4vE Cottam to West Burton – Overhead Line Refurbishment

Grassform Group have recently made more strategic moves into the Transmission sector, securing key projects within overhead line maintenance and refurbishment. This project involved major refurbishment of the 4VE transmission line from Cottam to West Burton, Grassform group was tasked with providing essential temporary roadways and compounds for access solutions throughout the project.

Project Overview 

Grassform Group have recently made more strategic moves into the Transmission sector, securing key projects within overhead line maintenance and refurbishment. This project involved major refurbishment of the 4VE transmission line from Cottam to West Burton, Grassform group was tasked with providing essential temporary roadways and compounds for access solutions throughout the project.

Trackway Requirements

Grassform Group supplied temporary access roads for essential EPZs , pull-throughs, and scaffold sites on the project. Grassform Groups install teams deployed a total of 1,350 heavy-duty trackway panels to initially facilitate safe and efficient access for both site personnel and specialist machinery. Our install teams were then retained daily to facilitate board circulation within the site for the duration of the project. This reduced the projects CO2 transport and overall cutting the pre plan trackway requirements. The project ran from June to November, requiring a high level of coordination to meet the dynamic demands of the refurbishment work. Despite this being one of Grassform Group’s major wins in the Transmission sector, the team maintained consistent performance, meeting all deadlines with precision.

Challenges & Solutions

Operating within the Transmission sector on a major project posed unique challenges for Grassform Group. The varied terrain and specific access requirements necessitated precision timing with a robust temporary roadway system that could withstand the demands of heavy construction equipment. Grassform’s expert team carefully mapped out the premium access solutions to ensure minimal disruption to the worksite and to maintain safety standards throughout the project.

Results

The project was successfully completed on time, with all access roads installed and dismantled according to the schedule.
