A modular building company required temporary access to position a modular building at a site with unsafe ground conditions. The plan involved using a crane to lift the modular units into place. However, the ground was too soft to support the weight of the crane and equipment without causing damage to the terrain. To overcome this, a stable, reliable access route was needed to allow the crane to reach the desired position and carry out the lift efficiently and safely.

Solution & Implementation

Grassform provided and installed TuffTrak heavy-duty trackway to ensure safe and stable access for the crane and associated vehicles. TuffTrak was selected due to its versatility, high load-bearing capacity and ability to provide a solid surface on soft and unstable ground, particularly in a built-up area where space and time were limited.

The installation was quick and efficient, with TuffTrak panels being laid to create a strong, non-slip surface, allowing the crane to move freely without sinking or damaging the ground. Our site engineer provided a detailed layout for the trackway, ensuring safe access to the designated modular building location. This layout enabled the crane to manoeuvre smoothly and carry out the lift without obstruction.

The entire installation process was completed swiftly, with the TuffTrak panels being removed just after the lift, allowing the project to stay on track without any significant delays.
