Grassform’s install teams have been on their travels again this time to the historic City of Bath in Somerset.
It is not known exactly when the health giving qualities of Bath springs were first noticed but they were certainly known to the Romans who built a temple there in around 50 AD. The temple was dedicated to Sul, a Celtic god and Minerva the Roman goddess of healing. They also built the world famous public baths which are supplied by the hot springs and are still in operation nearly 2,000 years later.
Our sales team were initially contacted by the private school in Bath to provide a temporary car park solution while major development works were being undertaken. The sales and estimating team put forward for approval our medium duty GrassProtecta mesh along with a PortaPath temporary pedestrian path. This provided easy access from the car park for the staff to the school building without entering the construction area and valuable extra parking. The building consultants on the project confirmed our recommendations complied with the outline project brief and met with the no dig policy implied by the local authority due to the historic nature of the site.
Our installation team then undertook the project over a 3 day period, installing 2,000 M2 of mesh along with 200m of PortaPath without disturbing the existing grassland setting.
The school and building consultants were extremely pleased with the finished project and the car park will be in use for the new school term 2015 and will be in use for the following 12 months.
Simon Dunning Contracts Director said,
”The school had to meet a strict no dig policy for this part of the site but provided adequate parking and the mesh with the PortaPath was the ideal solution. We have installed on many sites like this including Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI’s), projects for English Heritage, National Trust, Archaeologist’s and even Hadrian’s Wall”.
