Our client is managing the civil works necessary to bring cables from an offshore windfarm onshore. This involves creating access routes across multiple farmland areas to facilitate the installation process.

Solution Provided

Grassform is supplying over 5,000 Grassform HD panels at any given time throughout the duration of the project, which is set to conclude in Q2 2026. These panels provide temporary access roads across farmers’ fields, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Challenges and Solutions

The project initially used stone haul roads, which appeared to be a suitable solution. However, the stone left the ground in poor nutritional condition, preventing crops from growing even after reinstatement. This led to the exploration of alternative roadway solutions. Grassform Group’s temporary roadway panels proved a far superior option, offering faster installation and removal while preserving the farmland. This also massively reduced material transport movements locally and has had a major effect on reducing CO2 Emissions. Once removed, the ground requires minimal reinstatement, allowing farmers to resume their essential work with minor disruption to the soil and nutrients.

Outcome and Client Feedback

The client has been highly impressed with the speed and efficiency of the Grassform HD panel installation. Thanks to the success of our initial work, we recently secured a multi-million-pound contract to complete all haul roads for this site. With this partnership, we’re set to remain busy over the next few years as we contribute to the project’s ongoing success.
