Ground Protection For Drilling Rigs

Grassform was tasked with providing a trackway solution for their key customer who needed access for drilling rigs on a challenging site. The location was a farm track and a farmer’s field leading to a borehole site for drilling. The drilling rig, which weighed 12 tonnes, needed stable access for efficient operation over a 3-week period.

Solution

Our expert engineer, Danny Hallam, conducted a free site survey to assess the ground conditions and ensure the right trackway solution was used. Based on the site survey, it was determined that TuffTrak would be the most suitable option due to its strength and versatility.

• Installation: A total of 700m of TuffTrak was installed over 2 days, with the trackway placed strategically down the farm track and across the farmer’s field to ensure safe and stable access for the drilling rig.
• Hire Duration: The trackway remained in place for a period of 3 weeks, allowing sufficient time for the borehole drilling operations to be completed.
