Grass Protection Mesh – Heavy Duty

Our Heavy Duty Grass Protection Mesh is an improved heavy duty thick polyethylene mesh for reinforcing and protecting grassed surfaces prone to wear, rutting and smearing which can result in muddy surfaces incapable of withstanding vehicular or pedestrian applications. GrassProtecta® & GrassReinforcement slip resistant has been developed with an oscillated grass protection mesh structure which is designed to increase traction and improve slip resistance by up to 97% compared to standard straight oriented meshes.

Source Control Applications

Grass Protection Mesh – Heavy Duty Mesh can be used in Source Control applications as part of Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) and is the perfect alternative to impermeable paved surfaces where natural grassed traffic routes and driveways are preferred and where planning restrictions are applied or cost savings are being considered. GrassProtecta® & GrassReinforcement slip resistant grass mesh is supplied on 2m x 20m & 1m x 10m rolls in two thicknesses (11.5mm & 14mm) as determined by the application and manufactured from partly recycled UV Stabilised polyethylene (Approx 20% recycled polymer) Please note that with all plastic products, the product can become slippery on damp or wet conditions if used before any grass has grown.

Please note all grass reinforcement mesh is subject to a minimum order, please contact us for more information.

  • High level of grass reinforcement – up to 8 tonnes per axle (imposed load)
  • Ideal for permanent or temporary applications
  • Fast and cost effective installation compared to plastic paving grids
  • Up to 97% improved slip resistance compared to the standard grass protection meshes

Installation is very simple; after cutting the grass short, the grass protection mesh is unrolled and pinned to the surface using metal U-Pins or plastic pegs. By allowing plants to grow through the plastic mesh apertures, this slip resistant mesh allows the grass sward to intertwine with the plastic mesh filaments creating a strong discreetly reinforced grass surface capable of withstanding vehicle loads, limiting damage and reducing soil compaction. GrassProtecta® & GrassReinforcement can also be installed onto newly landscaped areas with the soil seeded as required. Grassform Plant Hire strongly advice that newly installed GrassProtecta® & GrassReinforcement slip resistant grass surfaces should be left unused until the grass has grown through the plastic net apertures and a strong interlock has been achieved – normally after a few weeks during the growing season rising to a few months out of the growing season. This is to allow the grass to fully grow through the grass reinforcement net and allow the grass sward to create the strong interlock with the mesh. If the surface is used immediately grass growth may take a longer period of time and may limit the effectiveness of the product initially. Grassform Plant Hire also offer a full installation service if required with our dedicated and professional installation team. Please contact us if you require this service.
